- I am currently planning to buy a gfx-card. My monitor (a Compaq 151FS) is
- capable of at least 1280*1024, so this should present no problem. I want
- to choose between
-
- - Picasso II
- - GVP Spectrum
- - Cybervision 64
-
- The host machine would be an A4000/030 with KS 3.0 and 2 Mb chip, 8 Mb fast.
- The prices of these cards are pretty similar, so a logical option would be
- the CV64 because of its speed. However, I am a little concerned with software
- compatibility. You can promote a lot, but I have seen some utilities on the
- Aminet which say (for example) `Picasso only'. Is this really `Picasso only',
- or will it run on other boards as well?
-
- Also, I know the EGS system is bulky and slow compared with CyberGraphX, but
- here too are some nice utils which I definitely would like to have. Can you
- run EGS on a CV64? (You can run EGS on the Picasso and the Spectrum.)
-
- Can I expect problems with my 3.0 Kickstart? Should I upgrade to 3.1?
-
- Last question: I am also intending to buy either a Warp Engine or a Cyberstorm
- turbocard. Is there a combination of gfx and CPU boards which does not work?
